One of the realities of running a football team is dealing with injuries.

I get my knowledge about injuries from the club through official press releases and website summaries. Clubs don’t always disclose such information in an honest and open manner.

Thus, a health advisory about injury data!

So far, this season hasn’t been all that taxing.

Every game, Celtic loses less than four players on average. Much better than the previous season, but still well short of the 6.63 peak set in 2018–19 under Brendan Rodgers.

39 players have been named in match day squads; on average, each player has missed 3.51 matches.

Out of 35 games, Liel Abada has missed the most—22 matches; Reo Hatate, 21; Cameron Carter-Vickers, 16; and Stephen Welsh, 14.

When the team is not playing well, the absences are felt more acutely. Additionally, the team’s strongest point is weakened by the compounding nature of injuries to important players like Carter-Vickers and Alistair Johnston at the same time.

Callum McGregor, Matt O’Riley, Joe Hart, and Kyogo Furuhashi have each missed just one game out of 35 total. Greg Taylor is the other person to reach 30 appearances, while Liam Scales has 32.

Particular attention will be required for McGregor and O’Riley. In the last eighteen games, the Dane has played all ninety minutes. Nine minutes and one match remain for McGregor to tie that record.

Risk on top of risk.

This season, injuries have not been an excuse; rather, relying too much on a small number of important players has been.
