Officials confirmed as Celtic look to respond against Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership

Celtic know they need to respond this weekend in the hunt for the Scottish Premiership title after a disappointing draw at home to Kilmarnock last weekend.

The Bhoys dropped points for the second time in three league matches under Brendan Rodgers following a late equaliser from the visitors, which led Rangers to take advantage against St Johnstone last Sunday, moving to the summit.

Rodgers is now in a position where he needs to filter a siege mentality through to his playing staff as his side aim to reverse a two-point deficit that seemed unimaginable just a matter of months ago.

Motherwell are next on the horizon this Sunday and will be keen to refine their own form amid a run of three matches without a win across all competitions.

Nevertheless, Stuart Kettlewell’s outfit have already drawn on four occasions since the turn of the year and will be aware that their opponents have dropped points seven times already in the league, with five being stalemates.

One of the main decisions Rodgers will need to factor towards his selection process is whether to stick with his two-man attack of Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah or to revert to a more familiar shape, something that could see Paulo Bernardo return to the starting line-up.

Realistically, Celtic have little margin for error, especially if they enter proceedings five points behind their rivals, who play host to Heart of Midlothian the day before.

On the face of it, Motherwell are one of the most unpredictable teams in the Scottish Premiership, and Celtic will need to be wary of the threat they carry on home soil.

Willie Collum has been assigned as referee for the affair at Fir Park. He will be supported by Johnathan Bell and John McCrossan, who are charged with running the lines.

Gavin Duncan has been handed custody of VAR duty in case any incidents need to be reviewed during proceedings, with Gary Hilland providing assistance on that front. Duncan Williams will take on the role of fourth official.
