Hugh Keevins brings up the issue of “Foreign Managers” in response to what Rangers CEO Clement stated.

Regarding Rangers manager Philippe Clement’s handling of queries about referee Willie Collum, Hugh Keevins has given him high marks.

Collum has been chosen to officiate the Scottish Cup fifth-round match between the Gers and Ayr United on Saturday, February 10, at Ibrox.

This is true even though Rangers requested that the Scottish FA refrain from using the official in their games after the December Celtic game.

Clement expressed his happiness with the appointment during his press conference on Friday, February 9, stating that it allows everyone to move forward.

Journalist Keevins of the Daily Record responded to those remarks on the Clyde 1 Superscoreboard [9 February, 1 hour, 20 minutes and 24 seconds] by saying, “We need foreign managers here, because they’re not inflicted by the rest of Scotland and what goes on there with regards to referees.”

“Clement’s perspective is that of a foreigner; he is not imposed.”

It’s an indication of Philippe Clement’s increased power in a brief amount of time. Essentially, what he’s saying is, “Talk to me first the next time you consider doing something like that.”

Returning to Rangers duty at Ibrox is Willie Collum.

Clement is still impressive in every way. He has proven to be a brilliant manager when it comes to strategy and audacious decisions, but he is also a skilled communicator off the field.

The Belgian had the opportunity to turn the incident into a song and dance, but instead he quickly shot it down, making the storyline somewhat meaningless.

Although the controversy surrounding our team’s defeat to Celtic in the Old Firm a few months ago is still vivid in our minds, Collum’s exclusion from our games was always inevitable.

Willie Collum will officiate the Scottish Cup tie between Rangers and Ayr United at Ibrox

Though many are unhappy with the outcome, this cup tie with Ayr is as good as any to help put an end to the issue.

Speaking quietly and plainly, Clement acknowledged that it is never a simple task for a referee to decide whether to uphold Dujon Sterling’s red card.

Hopefully, Rangers make it to the next round of the cup and this match ends without any significant talking points.
