Following midfielder Jamie Allen’s cheekbone fracture during Tuesday’s FA Cup fourth-round replay victory against Sheffield Wednesday, Coventry manager Mark Robins has called for action to be taken.

After colliding with Owls defender Di’Shon Bernard, Allen sustained injuries.

Robins stated that he hopes surgery may be avoided while confirming the playmaker’s depressed fracture.

“Di’Shon Bernard has left one on him and it needs looking at because it was naughty, really naughty,” Robins stated.

“I want people to look at that and take appropriate action.

It’s just not on to just leave things on players; it’s absurd.

“I’m simply hoping he doesn’t need surgery because of his quite depressed facture.

“But you could see he was in some pain and there was no need for it.”

After coming on as a second-half substitute, Allen was injured in the game’s last minute, which Coventry won 4-1.

Referee Chris Kavanagh awarded a free kick as a result of Bernard’s challenge, although no cards were issued.
