Five uses have now been made of a life-saving equipment that was placed outside one of Coventry’s biggest music venues late last year. Four times now, people in need have benefited from the use of the defibrillator that was installed at HMV Empire in September.
Additionally, it was reported that the bleed kit that was attached prevented a young guy from dying when he was stabbed close in the early hours of October 6.The OurJay Foundation, which was established in honor of the remarkable young man Jamie Rees, who passed away in University Hospital Coventry in January 2022 following a cardiac attack in Rugby, provided the equipment.
Jamie’s chances of life were significantly lowered by the absence of a publicly available defibrillator near the Hillmorton location of his fall. “So, since OurJay Foundation installed their defibrillator and bleed kit at HMV Empire Coventry a few months ago,” stated Phil Rooney, the boss of HMV Empire.
“We know the bleed kit was used to save the life of a young man who had been stabbed numerous times in Broadgate. The defibrillator has been used four times and the bleed kit once. Why isn’t this crucial piece of emergency life-saving equipment located in more locations in Coventry?
More than £120,000 has been raised by the Jamie’s name charity to place defibrillators throughout the nation, not just at Rugby, where he attended university. Up to now, more than 115 devices have been installed outside of businesses, warehouses, pubs, clubs, schools, and retail establishments.
