Daizen Maeda praises his Celtic teammate’s effort following their close victory over Ross County.

You could see the reaction on the faces of the Celtic players as Alistair Johnston scored what was a pretty fortunate goal against Ross County on Saturday.

When Matt O’Riley saw his friend score his second goal in Celtic colors—a deflection that sent the ball across the line in slow motion—he was unable to contain his laughter.

One would have assumed that Derek Adams’ team would start to suffer consequences after the goal in the opening minute opened the floodgates for the home team at Parkhead.

However, the outcome was very different, as Celtic failed to score during the game and missed two penalties—including the one that had to be retaken—after Luis Palma’s boot.

This is the reason for the fans’ discontent, which is presumably also related to the January transfer market’s lack of activity.

However, Daizen Maeda, who is presently serving in the country, was optimistic about everything since he saw positive things in his teammate, Alistair Johnston.

The Japanese player complimented the right-back on his most recent performance in response to his Instagram post, and midfielder Paulo Bernardo followed up with, “I told you.”

Celtic’s performances under Brendan Rodgers

These aren’t exactly Oscar-worthy performances from the team, but displays that are worthy of going into the ‘worst performance of the year category’.

As previously mentioned, the team hasn’t been anywhere near its high, high standards, yet is sitting on top of the tree in the Premiership.

That needs to be seen as a huge positive because imagine the damage that will be done when Celtic finally start to click consistently.

And what’s even more important to note is that the Bhoys have talked the talked in the biggest of games this season and there is no reason why that shouldn’t continue until the final ball is kicked.
