“Keeping an eye on his circumstances”: Celtic is considering the 23-year-old Serie A striker, who wishes to go. Journalist

League football is back and after Celtic’s performance against Ross County yesterday, the need to add quality to the squad has never been more evident.

Despite the 1-0 win sealing all three points and keeping a significant gap at the top of the table, there is no denying that the team is lacking firepower and penetration up front.

Well, it seems that the club are looking to put that right after Sky Sports journalist, Anthony Joseph’s latest update last night where he said that Celtic are looking at 23-year-old Bologna striker, Sydney van Hooijdink.

Joseph posted on social media channel X, “UPDATE: Bologna striker Sydney van Hooijdonk is looking to leave the club this month.

“Celtic have been monitoring his situation for some time.

“The Hoops are looking to add a striker before the transfer window closes but, as things stand, there’s been no contact for the 23yo.”

TBR Celtic told in the summer how the young Dutch striker was of interest to Brendan Rodgers and it seems that hasn’t gone away.

However, the 23-year-old has been lacking in goals and game time ever since he moved to the Italian club.

Most of his gametime has come this season where the young forward has been involved 11 times against the likes of AC Milan, Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Udinese.

Van Hooijdonk scored his only goal of the season against Verona in a 2-0 win in the Coppa Italia back in October of last year.

For me, doubts remain whether the 23-year-old is the answer to Celtic’s striking issues. Although it would be an extra option to have up front, does van Hooijdonk have the necessary quality to get selected ahead of Hyeongyu Oh never mind Kyogo Furuhashi.

With less than five days of the transfer window to go, the Celtic fans will be watching and waiting to see exactly what Brendan Rodgers will do to add that quality that he has been seeking for so long.
