Exclusive: Celtic considers a deal for the 25-year-old goalie in light of recent events

Football Insider has been informed by sources that Celtic is considering a summer deal for Caoimhin Kelleher, the goalkeeper for Liverpool.

Transfer reporter Pete O’Rourke stated that a January deal for the Republic of Ireland international would be too costly for the Hoops in an interview with Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast.

With undisputed number one Joe Hart’s contract expiring at the end of the season, Celtic are anticipated to make a move for a shot-stopper their main priority in the upcoming transfer window.

Liverpool is rumored to be demanding a payment of about £20 million in order to let their backup goalkeeper to leave this month.

The 25-year-old is prepared to leave the Premier League’s biggest teams in the summer in pursuit of regular first-team playing time, sources informed Football Insider on January 18.

This has made it possible for the Hoops to raid Kelleher, who is highly regarded on Brendan Rodgers’ list of desired goalkeepers.

Kelleher has made 11 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s team this season and is well-liked at Anfield.

He started every Reds group stage match but one, both of their EFL Cup matches, and two Premier League starts while first-choice Alisson was out due to injury.

But prior to this season, he had never made more than eight senior games in a season since joining Liverpool’s academy in 2015, and he is keen to establish himself as a first-choice player elsewhere.
