Rangers interested in Scottish striker likened to Jamie Vardy

Rangers are interested in snapping up Bristol City forward Tommy Conway but face a battle with a whole host of clubs – including Celtic.

Rangers have added one forward this month with Fabio Silva joining on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Gers may still be looking in the market for other attacking players though and we have seen some rather lofty links to the likes of Michy Batshuayi and Emmanuel Dennis.

Another rumour has emerged today, but a little the player in question isn’t quite as high-profile as those mentioned above…

Rangers interested in signing Tommy Conway

Football Insider now claim that Rangers are in the race to snap up Bristol City forward Tommy Conway.

It’s stated that Rangers are tracking Conway for a potential move to Ibrox and are rivalling a host of other clubs.

Premier League sides Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all looking at Conway as a potential signing.

The report even adds that Celtic are interested too, meaning a Glasgow battle is on the cards for Conway’s signature.

It’s only a few days since Rangers were linked with a move to land another Bristol City player in left back Cameron Pring.

Now it’s Conway being linked with Rangers potentially looking into a double raid on the Robins.

Conway – who has been compared to Jamie Vardy by former Bristol City boss Nigel Pearson – is a Scotland Under-21 international through a grandparent and has picked up one goal in five caps.

The 21-year-old has hit six goals in 20 Championship games this season and also scored in two FA Cup game against West Ham United – including the winner in Tuesday’s replay.

Rangers will surely have tabs on most Scottish talents and Conway certainly fits the bill as a promising young striker who is already scoring goals.

A January move may be a little tricky but Conway is a name to keep close tabs on in the coming months.
