With uncertainty persisting around both Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz, Jurasek had reportedly been targeted as a stop-gap loan solution in the window.
But now it appears Rangers will be let down in that pursuit as the £12m Benfica summer signing lines up a move to Germany.
David Jurasek to Hoffenheim
At least that’s according to renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, who made the claim on his official X account.
The Italian journalist believes that David Jurasek will join Hoffenheim on a loan with an option-to-buy in the summer after what’s been a disappointing six months in Portugal.
Ligue 1 side Marseille – who have since moved elsewhere – were also linked to a move for Jurasek with Rangers strongly mentioned in reports in Portugal.
The respective transfer also comes after David Jurasek was spotted with his former Slavia Prague teammates on a visit to their warm weather training camp in the Algarve.
Rangers left-back transfer hunt continues
With the news that David Jurasek is closing in on a move to Hoffenheim, the Ibrox side’s transfer hunt to add a new left-back to their squad continues in the January window.
Rangers manager Philippe Clement spoke candidly about the situation in Glasgow after the midweek friendly draw with FC Copenhagen at Ibrox.
Claiming that it’s “clear” Rangers cannot go into the rest of the season with only one left-back option – should either Borna or Ridvan leave – it all points to imminent investment in the position.
Another name who has been mentioned is Liverpool left-back Owen Beck, with reports suggesting the defender may become available later in the transfer window.
