Fabrizio Romano drops Celtic transfer update about highly-rated star Rocco Vata

Nine days into the January transfer window and there has been no movement at Celtic, both in terms of incomings or outgoings.

But, in terms of players possibly leaving Celtic, some things are now starting to bubble up.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Serie A side Bologna are interested in Celtic’s highly-rated star, Rocco Vata.

The Italian journalist added that ‘talks are expected soon’, as interest in the 18-year-old is ‘growing’.

The simple fact of the matter is that Rocco Vata’s contract at Parkhead expires in the summer, so he can, if he wishes, sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club today and then join them in the summer.

The Irishman has made four appearances for the club, but he is yet to feature under Brendan Rodgers and he was one of the players tipped by 67 Hail Hail to leave in January.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that his name is now being talked about in such a way, with summer signing, Gustaf Lagerbielke also possibly looking at a deal with a Serie A team.

Bologna’s interest in Celtic’s Rocco Vata

Celtic’s January transfer window so far

It has been fairly quiet, but it’s still early days and it seems as though the players have gone on a mini break before they return to action and gearing up for the second half of the season again.

You wouldn’t be surprised if things start to pump up by the start of next week and moves are then made.

Perhaps it’s a case of getting players out before any incomings can land on Celtic’s doorstep, with keen interest in what area of the pitch Brendan Rodgers improves.

If Lagerbielke does leave, will he bring in another centre-back? Liam Scales and Cameron Carter-Vickers are his main two, whilst Maik Nawrocki has looked good in recent games.

But the fact of the matter is that Rodgers has hardly used him, so there is something he clearly doesn’t like about him.
