Report: £20m man keen on Rangers move, he once hit Real Madrid brace

Nottingham Forest’s forgotten man Emmanuel Dennis is ‘interested’ in a move to Rangers after falling out of favour at the Premier League outfit.

At least, that is according to Sacha Tavolieri, the Belgian reporter reacting to suggestions that Phillipe Clement could in line for an Ibrox reunion with a forward who played under him at Club Brugge a couple of years ago.

It was during his time alongside the now-Rangers boss that Emmanuel Dennis first caught the attention of the wider footballing public. Two goals away at Real Madrid in the Champions League, and one against Manchester United in the Europe, tends to have that affect on your reputation.

And while Tavolieri is quick to play down the suggestions that anything is imminent – Dennis has been offered to Rangers rather than Rangers making an offer for Dennis – Nottingham Forest’s £20 million misfit is certainly intrigued by the prospect of getting his career back on track under a coach who knows and understands his rather mercurial talent.

“Emmanuel Dennis has been proposed to the club but there hasn’t been an official approach as of now,” Tavolieri explains on X.

“I can confirm the player’s interest for Rangers

Dennis, as recently as the 2021/22, scored 10 goals and set up six more in a superb Premier League campaign at Watford. Rediscover that form, and Dennis will soon have the more sceptical members of the Rangers support forgetting all about that most ill-fated of City Ground spells.

The Nigeria international is currently on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey but it is expected that he will be allowed to go this month. Interestingly, his best days in England came when jinking in from the left wing at Watford, suggesting that he could be a long-term replacement for Abdallah Sima if the Brighton loanee cannot be retained on a permanent basis.
