Vaclav Hladky speaks on Ipswich transfer future after Celtic links

Vaclav Hladky, who was connected to a Celtic transfer, has opened out about his future.

The former St. Mirren goalie has been a standout player for Ipswich Town, who is presently ranked second in the Championship behind Leicester, as they fight for promotion to the English Premier League. Nine clean sheets have been recorded by the Czech stopper in all 26 league outings.

Hladky, who moved from Salford to the Tractor Boys for his third season, had only made 13 league appearances in his first two seasons until establishing himself as the team’s first choice this year. The 33-year-old’s country of origin released reports in December indicating the Hoops were considering him.

When questioned about his future, he told the East Anglian Daily Times that other teams would be interested in him if he was in a good position, performing well in the Championship, and the squad was clearly performing well.

“I believe that every member of this team is capable of playing somewhere. I’m just going to keep going because I want to push myself further and it’s nice to hear and listen to that.

“I think there’s a lot more to do, and I’m happy to be in that role. All I can say for now is that Stoke is my only focus.

It’s obviously wonderful to be in this position, and I just want to play every game to the best of my abilities.

“I don’t want to get too ahead of myself, but Stoke is the next one. Without a doubt, I’m constantly thinking about the next one, and we do that each week.

Hladky had a lot of possibilities for his next move after making an impression for St. Mirren in the 2020–21 season, but he chose to join League Two team Salford. Later on, he disclosed that he turned down Rangers’ offer because he was eager to try his luck playing in England.
