Ianis Hagi ‘agrees’ Rangers transfer

Turkish reports state that when the playmaker’s loan at Alaves expires in the summer, he will sign with the Istanbul giants.

Rangers’ Ianis Hagi is expected to leave the team permanently as Galatasaray is rumored to be close to signing the midfield player.

Steven Gerrard signed the 25-year-old on a temporary loan from Philippe Clement’s previous team, Genk, and brought him to Ibrox in January 2020. Before the season started, the player finalized a permanent move. The Romanian international scored eight goals in 48 games to help Rangers win the Premiership in 2021, but she has only played in 13 games over the past two years due to injuries.

Hagi, whose contract with Govan expires in 2026, signed a season-long loan with La Liga team Alaves last summer, but he hasn’t been very consistent, managing just two goals and one assist in 24 games for the middle-table team. Additionally, the playwright has “completed” his move to Galatasaray, the Istanbul giants, where his legendary father Gheorghe enjoyed a trophy-laden spell between 1996 and 2001, including a notable UEFA Cup triumph in 2000, according to Turkish outlet Aksam.

Hagi is not the only Rangers player who has been linked to a summer transfer to Trabzonspor in the Super Lig; midfielder John Lundstram is also being linked to the league. According to reports, full back Ridvan Yilmaz was also on the verge of returning to Turkey with Galatasaray during the January transfer window.
