When Coventry City was selected to play his old team, Manchester United, in the FA Cup semi-final, Mark Robins said, “Perfect!”

Since he began his playing career at Old Trafford and won the FA Cup with the team under Sir Alex Ferguson, the Sky Blues coach has developed a strong bond with the Red Devils and has followed their success and provided support for them ever since. But even after seven years in charge of the West Midlands squad, he’s adamant: “Coventry City is my team, 100%!”

When asked if Man United had to be his backup squad, he laughed and said, “Yes, that would probably be fair.” After seeing United’s stunning triumph over arch rivals Liverpool on Sunday, the 54-year-old said that Saturday’s opening quarterfinal match between Wolves and City set the standard for an exciting cup football weekend.

The game would be fantastic regardless of the squad you choose, though. Although they have both individual and elite players, we may still anticipate this game. We can go and try our hand at Wembley against a top team led by a top manager. It’s an amazing trip to Wembley for the fans, players, staff, and all involved.

He went on, “We want to try and go and give a really good account of ourselves again, and enjoy it. They’ll be expected to win, 100%.” Ultimately, reaching this point is a tremendous accomplishment, but it’s one of those situations where you don’t want to go in and make up the numbers. You want to play the game, but it’s challenging as it’s a new level. We’ll examine that aspect of it, of course.
