Coventry City are now just one game away from their first FA Cup final in 37 years.

The Sky Blues have been one of the FA Cup’s standout performers this season and still have a chance of promotion to the Premier League too.

The team led by Mark Robins defeated the Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 at Molineux on Saturday thanks to two goals in extra time.
As the Championship continues to go well this season, City may potentially encounter a fixture clash that is unprecedented in English football history.

Because of the difficulties, a City victory in their FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United on April 20 or 21 at Wembley Stadium would throw FA and EFL executives into a tailspin.

Why is this a significant issue? As it happens, the FA Cup final (Saturday, May 25) and this year’s play-off final (Sunday, May 26) will both take place in the nation’s capital. Coventry is now four points behind sixth-place Norwich City, who hold the final play-off spot, in their battle for a top-six finish. There are just nine games left for Mark Robins’ team, and their FA Cup advancement means that their home match against Ipswich Town will probably have to be rescheduled.Manchester United duo Antony and Amad celebrate after a dramatic 4-3 win over Liverpool.

The EFL and FA have reportedly already created an emergency backup plan in case the Sky Blues make it to the championship game in any of their respective leagues this season, according claims from The Mirror.

It says that if things change over the following few weeks, there is room to reposition the fixture.

The EFL has permitted the Championship regular season finish to take place one week later than the League One and League Two finals, which are scheduled to take place one week apart. Supporters won’t have enough time to arrange appropriate travel and lodging, which could have a detrimental influence on ticket sales.

There aren’t many free days at Wembley during this time, which further complicates matters. The home of English football will host the 2023–24 Champions League final the following weekend on June 1.
