Following Coventry City’s thrilling FA Cup triumph over Premier League Wolves on Saturday, Mark Robins gave his team a rare and unique behind-the-scenes glimpse in the dressing room.

After the final whistle at Molineux, where stoppage time goals from Ellis Simms and Haji Wright secured the club’s fourth trip to Wembley in the previous seven years, the Sky Blues boss gave the media team permission to record his post-match speech to his players and staff for the club’s wildly popular ‘Unseen’ videos.

“So, fantastic,” he said, turning to his group of people who were sitting still and paying close attention to everything he said. “Really, excellent in every way. There were only few sections where you had to go. You gain a small amount of self-assurance in the game, put yourself ahead of the opposition, and with your talent, you can trouble anyone. So carry that self-assurance into the upcoming games.

“Remember that Man City or Liverpool might advance to the next round, so just keep that in mind. Alright, there’s still plenty of work to be done. Outstanding, each and every one of you. Excellent work.

Before first team coach Dennis Lawrence spoke about his final game at the club before joining Minnesota United as assistant manager, the players praised Robins.

The former Trinidad and Tobago player and manager said, “If you stick together as a group and support each other you will go as far as you want to go because I work with you on a daily basis and I am telling you something, your attitude, your technical ability, your game understanding, it’s there with the best.”

“But you simply need to remain a cohesive unit. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I sincerely appreciate everything that you players have done for me. I hope you forget what I did for you. It concerns what you have accomplished for me. I sincerely thank each and every member of the crew; you have my sincere gratitude. Go enjoy yourself at Wembley, please. I just wanted to say thank you again and wish you the best of luck moving forward. I’ll be watching.

Robins went on to say, “It’s a collective, all the way.” Nothing can be accomplished by you alone. Adi has spent the entire week emphasizing the importance of following others’ lead and not letting them go it alone. Really, no matter what level you play at, you will annoy others if you can reach that. Just bring that confidence with you to the upcoming games. Excellent work.

Then, as kit guy appears, the group comes to life. Chris Marsh opens with a jubilant performance of Sweet Caroline, a song they frequently sing after significant victories.
