As stoppage time approached, Coventry was behind after two quick goals appeared to have put their opponents through. But Ellis Simms tied the score with his second of the match, and in the tenth minute of extra time, Haji Wright scored the winning goal.

But there was still time for more action, and Coventry persisted. In the seventh added minute, Simms headed home at the back post, and he then found US international Wright, who curled home the winner.

Thanks to Coventry’s victory, a team from the Championship will play in the FA Cup semi-finals for the second year running. After finishing in the final four of the previous season, Sheffield United was promoted to the Premier League despite losing to Manchester City at Wembley.

The first of the four quarterfinal matches took place on Saturday, with Coventry defeating Wolves and holders Manchester City playing Newcastle in the other match.
