The most recent transfer news from Scottish powerhouses Celtic and Rangers

In their most recent league games, Rangers and Celtic suffered uncommon losses as the competition for the Premiership title heats up.

This weekend, the two Glasgow giants—Celtic hosting St Johnstone and Rangers traveling to Dudee—will both be looking to recover.

Both teams are putting a lot of effort into getting ready for the summer transfer window even if the race for the championship is still very much alive. In light of this, we have compiled all of the most recent information and significant updates from Celtic Park and Ibrox.

Regardless of Fabio Silva’s choice, Rangers will prioritize a “top striker” in the summer transfer window

During the summer transfer window, Rangers are desperate to sign a premier striker. It is understood by Football Insider that Philippe Clement’s biggest aim moving ahead is for the team to have two elite strikers leading the line the next season.

There will be no bearing on this choice from loanee Fabio Silva’s future. Even though the 21-year-old Portuguese player, who was signed on loan from Wolves, has only scored twice in 11 games across all competitions, he is still considered a player for the future.

According to the outlet, Silva’s loan arrangement will either be extended or he will sign a permanent contract with Rangers in the summer. That choice, though, is mostly determined by the team’s remaining games because qualifying for the Champions League might result in a lucrative £20 million transfer boost for the team.

The Japanese center back Yuki Kobayashi was the target of a bid from Kashima Antlers, but Celtic turned it down.

The 23-year-old, who was signed by Brendan Rodgers’ predecessor Ange Postecoglou in January 2023, is reportedly admired by the J League team. After joining the Hoops from Vissel Kobe, Kobayashi has only appeared in five league games, all of which came towards the close of the previous campaign.

The five-time U20 international hasn’t made an appearance this season and is totally absent from the first team photo at Parkhead since Rodgers’ arrival.

According to the Daily Record, inquiries have also been made in recent weeks by Major League Soccer teams Dallas and Real Salt Lake as well as the Finnish team HJK; however, Celtic has so far rejected all of these offers.
