‘Shocker’ – David Edgar rages at Rangers incident in defeat v Motherwell

According to David Edgar, Rangers suffered another injury as a result of Dan Casey’s “shocker” challenge on Ross McCausland during the Gers’ loss to Motherwell.

Theo Blair and Casey’s goals at Ibrox on Saturday, March 2, gave Stuart Kettlewell’s team a 2-1 victory, and the Light Blues lost the opportunity to go up to the top of the Scottish Premiership standings.

But halfway through the first half, McCausland was pulled off with an injury from a strong tackle by Casey that Edgar couldn’t believe went “unpunished,” dealing a severe blow to Philippe Clement.

“Another of our players injured by a shocker which goes unpunished,” he wrote on X on Saturday, March 2.

With the loss to Motherwell, have Rangers given Celtic the Scottish Premiership title?

Rangers had a fantastic chance to widen their lead in the Premiership on Saturday, but Clement’s team never seemed to have the strength to take all three points due to a combination of subpar forward play and shoddy defence.

The two goals the Gers gave up were far too easy, as a single cross into the box and a total miscommunication at the back proved to be their downfall. Rangers supporters wanted more from a senior defender, and John Souttar found himself in a precarious situation.

As they were against Kilmarnock earlier in the week, supporters and Clement will probably be disappointed with the referee’s performance, but they also need to admit that they were far from adequate at Ibrox on Saturday.

Rangers will never be able to upset Celtic to win the title or even the Scottish Cup this season, therefore they must make sure that their loss to Motherwell was only a temporary setback in their pursuit of the championship.
