Important midfielder Tatsuhiro Sakamoto will miss the remainder of the season due to a back injury, the Mark Robins have revealed.

Sakamoto suffered a heavy fall onto his back while attempting to win an aerial ball during City’s heartbreaking 3-0 loss to Preston North End.

The Japan international is already out of the hospital, according to Robins, but the Sky Blues manager acknowledged that this is bad news for the team as they aim to qualify for the playoffs.

“He’s going to recover but it’s going to take time,” stated Robins, “but he’s going to miss the rest of the season because he has a bad back injury. He’s out of the hospital and back home.”

Regretfully, he finds himself in quite a little discomfort, which I hope goes away quickly for him. He’s been amazing, but he needed a respite and was begging for a break, which I was unable to provide.

It’s terrible that he sustained this injury, and it will take some time for him to heal. The exhaustion was evident.
