Ewan Murray claims that Philippe Clement has “completely rejuvenated” Rangers, giving the team the “swagger and belief of champions.”
In his Guardian column on February 27, the writer stated that with 11 games left, the Light Blues are two points and six goals ahead of Celtic, which has put pressure on a “sour” Brendan Rodgers to act in “theatre, detached from sporting reality” following his recent controversy with BBC Scotland’s Jane Lewis.
Murray, however, suggested that the Hoops had optimism because of the team’s head-to-head record this season and recent SPFL history. Gers fans, he said, are “so giddy” that a loss at this time would be a major spectacle.
Regarding the current league standings, he wrote: “In other leagues, this would not be reason for strong opinion, but Rodgers cannot count on other teams stealing points from Rangers due to the weakness of Scotland’s top flight.
“Philippe Clement has utterly revitalized the Ibrox side, to the point where they play with the confidence and swagger of champions.
“Celtic have two key elements on their side: a level of recent title specialization not at all evident across the city, and successive and deserved victories over Rangers in the Premiership this season.”
But he issued a warning: “Rangers fans rightfully think they can win the league, while Celtic’s fan base fears losing it.” If Clement fails to win this championship, it will be quite the spectacle because those in blue are so ecstatic.
“If Rodgers does win this league, he can feel empowered,” the statement continued. Given the quality of Rangers and Celtic’s glaring weaknesses in a Scottish setting, this would be his greatest accomplishment to date.

The Gers support base is undoubtedly confident, but after two seasons of domestic mediocrity, few will be persuaded that the race is over at this point.
