GREAT MOVE: He leaves Everton to become Chief Football Officer at Wycombe

Dan Rice, previously serving as Head of Emerging Talent at Everton, will transition to the role of Chief Football Officer at Wycombe Wanderers. This move follows the recent acquisition of a 90% stake in the League One club by Kazakh billionaire Mikheil Lomtadze from Rob Couhig. Lomtadze has outlined ambitious plans for the club, including the establishment of a top-tier academy and the implementation of data analytics and technology to enhance performance.

Emphasizing a commitment to youth development, Lomtadze has positioned it as a core aspect of the club’s vision. Rice’s responsibilities will encompass various football-related areas, such as recruitment, first-team management, Academy operations, coaching, sports science, and analysis, in a role equivalent to that of a Sporting Director. His experience includes roles at Everton, Southampton, Arsenal, Fulham, and the Football Association.

Rice will join Wycombe’s Board alongside Lomtadze and Eduard Vyshnyakov. Couhig will retain his position as Chairman, while Vyshnyakov will assist the Board with financial matters.

Lomtadze, known for his ventures in technology, notably founding Kaspi.kz, aims to ensure both on-field and off-field success for Wycombe, prioritizing the integration of data analytics and technology. He underscores the importance of youth development and intends to establish a high-performance academy as a key component of the club’s long-term strategy for consistent top-level performance.
