Dunfermline manager ‘aware’ of interest as Wycombe aim to sign Josh Edwards

Wycombe Wanderers continue to show interest in acquiring Dunfermline Athletic’s left-back, Josh Edwards. The 23-year-old has had an impressive season, playing 44 matches for Dunfermline and earning a spot in the Scottish Championship Team of the Year. This marks his second consecutive inclusion in such accolades, having previously been recognized in the League One Team of the Year for the 2022/23 season. Edwards’ strong performances have attracted attention from various EFL clubs, including Wycombe, Blackpool, and Barnsley.

Despite Barnsley’s unsuccessful bid for Edwards in the January transfer window, interest from other clubs like Oxford United persists. Wycombe, in particular, is in need of a new left-back due to several departures from their squad. These include Joe Jacobson, who played 400 games over a decade for the club, and loanee Saxon Earley from Plymouth Argyle, who was sidelined by injury.

Wycombe initially relied on Harry Boyes from Sheffield United at left-back, but he departed in January for Fleetwood Town, who faced relegation to League Two. Luke Leahy also filled in at left-back this season, showcasing versatility despite being known for his goal-scoring prowess at Buckinghamshire.
