In response to Wrexham’s brawl with Tranmere following the game, Phil Parkinson has stated that another loss won’t be “season-defining.”

Consequently, what happened?

The Red Dragons’ most recent League Two match ended in a 1-0 loss to their neighborhood rivals at SToK Racecourse. For the time being, they are still in the automatic promotion spots, but they are nervously watching their backs. At the end of the Rovers game, tensions were on the verge of blowing up, but Parkinson says he was not present for the on-field altercation and doesn’t anticipate anything further happening.Getty Photographs

PARKINSON’S MENTION

After hearing that there were exchanges of words following a heated rivalry match, Wrexham’s manager remarked, “I had gone down the tunnel.” I had never heard of it before, but someone brought it up to me. I was not sure at the moment if the referee had also gone down the tunnel. Although you don’t want it to happen, feelings were running hot.

Parkinson is unwilling to let the past bother him, so even if Wrexham made 25 shots on goal against Tranmere and was unable to score, he will not allow that dissatisfaction to fester. “We need to think about this,” he continued. There’s a ton of value in playing. Even though it was a local derby, we understand the significance of the loss for our players, staff, and supporters, therefore it’s not a game-changing setback. It’s not, however, a season-ending loss. We have to pick ourselves up and prepare to play again at Grimsby the next week because we are in a strong position.Wrexham Paul Mullin 2023-24Getty

FUTURE PLANS FOR WREXHAM?

With eight games remaining in the season, Wrexham will begin their journey to Grimsby on Saturday. As the race for fourth-tier promotion heats up, they are only five points behind leaders Mansfield and even with Stockport in second place. Meanwhile, sixth-placed Barrow is just six points behind Parkinson’s team.
