‘Understand’: TalkSPORT journalist has shared big overnight update about West Ham and Julen Lopetegui

It appears that West Ham United may be gearing up for a transformative summer, as the tenure of their current manager, David Moyes, is nearing its end with no clear signs of an extension.

While discussions between Moyes and club owner David Sullivan are expected, there’s a prevailing sense that the club is poised to explore new managerial avenues.

According to reports from Football.london, it’s likely that West Ham will be looking to shift direction, possibly signaling the end of Moyes’ tenure.

Amidst this speculation, there have been links suggesting that the club is eyeing Julen Lopetegui, the former manager of Spain, Real Madrid, and Wolves, as a potential replacement. This indicates the club’s ambition to secure a manager with a distinguished track record to guide them into a new era.

And on Friday night, talkSPORT’s Alex Crook shared a big update involving the two parties.

What did Alex Crook say about West Ham and Julen Lopetegui?

According to Crook’s reports on both the talkSPORT website and his X account, West Ham United are currently engaged in advanced talks with Julen Lopetegui regarding the managerial position.

Additionally, it’s mentioned that Tim Steidten has had face-to-face discussions with the Spanish coach, indicating further progress in the negotiations.

It seems that Julen Lopetegui is emerging as the frontrunner for the West Ham managerial position, with Ruben Amorim still in contention but Lopetegui being favored.

The report also suggests that current manager David Moyes is unhappy about potential replacements being considered while he’s still in his role.

Additionally, it’s noted that Pablo Steidten, presumably a figure associated with the club, has agreed to stay away from the first-team dressing room until the end of the season.

Lopetegui comes with a strong managerial background, having led clubs like Porto, Spain, and Real Madrid. However, his stints at the latter two were cut short due to various circumstances, including his dismissal by the Spanish national team just before the 2018 World Cup and a slow start at Real Madrid.

Since then, he has managed Sevilla and Wolves, departing from the latter in 2023. Now, it appears that he may be poised for another opportunity in the Premier League.
