Gianluca Scamacca realises that he committed the ultimate sin at West Ham

Gianluca Scamacca just revealed something very candid that will make West Ham United supporters furious.

Wasn’t it always a match made in heaven? That is, Gianluca Scamacca’s relationship with David Moyes, the manager of West Ham.

The Italian striker was swiftly traded to Atalanta for a loss of £13.5 million a year after being signed by West Ham for an estimated £35 million in the summer of 2022.

With 34 games played for Atalanta this season, the 25-year-old has scored 14 goals and provided four assists, demonstrating his impressive return to Serie A (Transfermarkt).

Gianluca Scamacca admits that he committed the cardinal sin at West Ham

During his brief season at the London Stadium, Scamacca’s skill level was evident.

But he delighted us and irritated the supporters in equal measure. There were moments when his attitude was definitely dubious.

That being said, the former Sassuolo striker was clearly not suited to David Moyes’s formation, playing style, or system.

However, some will argue that he should have put in more effort to fit into the Scot’s setup.

And now, Scamacca has shown true honesty by openly acknowledging a major blunder he committed while playing for the Hammers.

Gianluca Scamacca acknowledges that while at West Ham, he committed the cardinal sin.
When he plays, the Italy international undoubtedly presents an excessively relaxed image.

Scamacca would occasionally appear to be uninterested. Michail Antonio, his former teammate, famously criticized him last year, according to talkSPORT:

“As a player, he truly possesses quality. He is unable to play the way the manager wants him to play, which is the issue. He requires a different kind of manager—one who will allow him to play with players who aren’t afraid of him and such. As you can see, the ball approaches him and adheres. But with David Moyes, you have to be a fighter and survive on scraps. and that’s not who he is.”

He was obviously unhappy at the London Stadium and frequently expressed his wish to go back to Italy in the future (Metro).

The player has now revealed his strategy from his time at West Ham, and it’s not very pleasant to read.

Gianluca Scamacca admits that he committed the cardinal sin at West Ham

Scamacca told reporters that he has changed drastically since joining Atalanta, according to Tuttomercatoweb:

“Since coming here, I’ve made significant changes to the way I approach games, how much I run, and how intensely I play.”

Thus, the Italian is openly acknowledging that during his time with the Hammers, he did not put in the necessary effort.

On the field, he wasn’t as focused as he ought to have been. Really, it should come as no surprise that he struggled in the Premier League!

I find it unacceptable that he didn’t put in as much effort as he could have, and I’m sure that his lack of commitment will come back to haunt him in the future.

I think the worst thing a football player can have is a lack of effort and application.

With a mindset like that, Gianluca Scamacca, despite being a very talented player, was always going to be a failure at West Ham.
