West Brom boss confirms key player could finally return against Sunderland

West Brom manager Carlos Corberan has given an update on the fitness of a potentially important player ahead of their upcoming match against Sunderland this weekend. Despite Sunderland having little at stake as the season nears its end, they’ve shown strong performances recently, defeating Cardiff City and drawing with Leeds United. With players vying for positions before a new manager arrives in the summer, Sunderland could present a challenging opposition.

West Brom, on the other hand, still need to secure a playoff spot and are set to face Rotherham United before the Sunderland match. Corberan hinted at the return of striker Josh Maja, who has been sidelined due to injury since his signing from Bordeaux. Although Maja might be available for the Sunderland game, Corberan emphasized the need for him to be physically ready and not just available. He mentioned that Maja’s progress has been promising, indicating that he might feature not only against Sunderland but also in the following game against Leicester City. Corberan expressed optimism about Maja’s improved condition and potential contribution to the team.
