“They are the Best Team in the Championship”… Baggies Manager

West Brom’s Manager believes The manager of West Bromwich Albion believes that Enzo Maresca’s team is the strongest in the Championship. He has a theory about why they’ve been performing poorly lately, having lost six out of their last ten matches before Saturday’s game.

West Brom Manager Carlos Corberán

According to Carlos Corberan, Leicester City has been grappling with the fallout of the high expectations they set at the beginning of the season. Despite their recent luck in defeating West Bromwich Albion on Saturday and moving closer to promotion, Corberan thinks that Leicester has faced pressure due to the high standards they set earlier in the campaign. He observed that City had been fortunate in their win against West Bromwich, especially considering their previous two losses and the pressure they had imposed on themselves after their impressive start to the season.

During the first half of the season, City amassed 58 points out of a possible 69, putting them on track to potentially break the record for most points in a single English football season, which was set by Reading with 106 points in 2006. However, City now find themselves needing to win all of their remaining three matches just to reach the 100-point mark.

Although Saturday’s win put them back at the top of the table, four points ahead of third-placed Leeds, they still need two wins from their final three fixtures to secure promotion. Despite this, their victory over West Bromwich was somewhat fortuitous, with the visitors missing several good chances and City relying on Hamza Choudhury’s goal-line clearance.

Corberan analyzed the game and City’s season, stating that they created numerous scoring opportunities throughout the match. He acknowledged that they didn’t handle some situations well, such as conceding the first goal and the penalty. However, he believes that City has generally outperformed their opponents, particularly against what he considers to be the best team in the competition.

He noted the pressure that Leicester is facing due to their previous success but commended their ability to maintain their identity despite their recent losses. Corberan concluded that the result against West Bromwich didn’t accurately reflect the game, with Leicester being more clinical in front of goal while West Bromwich was less so.

Now, attention turns to Leeds’ match against Middlesbrough on Monday night. If Leeds lose, then City will have the chance to secure promotion against Southampton on Tuesday night.
