West Brom ready move to sign Josh Windass amid contract latest at Sheffield Wednesday.

West Brom are considering a move for Sheffield Wednesday star Josh Windass in the summer transfer window, according to The Star.

The report on 17 May reveals that the 30-year-old – who is out of contract at the end of the season, with no new deal as yet agreed with the Owls – is attracting significant attention ahead of a potential Bosman transfer.

Would Josh Windass be a good signing for West Brom?

Windass has enjoyed a fruitful season considering Wednesday have spent the majority of the campaign firefighting at the bottom end of the Championship table.

The attacker recorded six goals and two assists in 1,759 Championship minutes across 25 appearances for the Owls this season, while he also scored on his only FA Cup outing – the 4-0 win over Cardiff City on 6 January.

Windass’ versatility will be particularly appealing to head coach Carlos Corberan, with the multi-functional forward featuring in a variety of different positions this season. He has mainly been deployed in his preferred position behind the centre-forward but has also led the line himself and been used on either wing.

Given the raft of expected departures at the Hawthorns, the aquisition of an experienced attacker able to plug a number of different gaps across the front line could prove to be a shrewd one – if the Baggies can beat out competition from their Championship rivals.
