Watford FC is set to sign Elan Ricardo from Equidad, as confirmed by Equidad’s president Carlos Mario Zuluaga in an interview with Caracol Radio. Ricardo, a 20-year-old midfielder with just 24 appearances for Equidad’s first team, has attracted attention from the Championship club.

Zuluaga mentioned, “We have a sealed bid for Elan Ricardo with Watford and an offer from international football for Johan Rojas.” This statement confirms the earlier reports from the Colombian media that indicated Watford would be acquiring Ricardo for a fee of €800,000. Notably, Equidad will not retain a percentage from any future sale of the player.

Ricardo, who has yet to make his debut for the Colombian national team, is unlikely to feature in this summer’s Copa America. Watford will need to provide the necessary support for Ricardo’s adaptation to English football, ensuring he can develop and integrate successfully into the team.

This transfer highlights Watford’s scouting reach into the Colombian league, aiming to bolster their squad with promising talent from South America.
