West Ham talks with new boss in place for ‘months’ as Moyes exit mooted – report

According to Mundo Deportivo, West Ham have been in talks with Julen Lopetegui about replacing David Moyes for “months” as rumours persist.

According to the Spanish news outlet, Lopetegui stayed in England after leaving Wolves last summer to perfect his language skills in preparation for a return to the Premier League.

It is also reported that he has sparked interest in Germany and Italy, where he is expected to take over as AC Milan manager this summer.

Could Julen Lopetegui take over for David Moyes at West Ham?

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with the job at the London Stadium, despite the fact that Moyes’ departure has not been confirmed by the club.

Lopetegui is an intriguing option at the London Stadium, having had success with Sevilla prior to his untimely departure from Real Madrid, and his stock has fallen sharply since then, despite his good work at Wolves.

Ruben Amorim was initially the front-runner for the position after talks with David Sullivan at the owner’s house. However, the pair are split on the club’s direction and Amorim’s alleged inexperience.

One win in their last eight games has seen West Ham manager David Moyes come under pressure.

Alongside the likes of Amorim and Lopetegui, both Graham Potter and Gary O’Neill have been linked with the role, with Moyes’ contract set to run out in the summer amid speculation surrounding his long-term future after another poor run of form.
