West Ham intend to sign World Cup finalist in £25m+ deal

Calciomercato reports that West Ham United is hoping to sign AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana this summer, preferring him over Manchester United and AC Milan.

Given that Lucas Paqueta has been linked to a move to Manchester City and that Kalvin Phillips is unlikely to stay after his failed loan, the Hammers are eager to add players to their roster in the summer.

Additionally, the World Cup finalist Fofana is expected to leave Ligue 1 this summer in a deal worth in excess of £25 million, according to a report on their website (3 April) by the Italian news outlet, with West Ham eager to win the race for his signature.

“Monaco does not intend to stop Fofana; he knows that he will pack his bags.” However, they stated that he anticipates receiving almost €30 million (£25.7 million) from the sale.

“Anyone who desires it must set aside money for this kind of investment, to which they will also need to add a salary that will surpass the current level, which is €220,000 gross per month, or slightly over €2.6 million gross annually (or £42,800 per week).”

“Premier League teams pose the biggest threat to Milan: Nottingham Forest made an attempt last summer, and West Ham and Manchester United should be avoided this season.”

West Ham United would be wise to sign Fofana.
All-action midfielders who can defend deep, explode from box to box, and pose a threat in the final third are what the Irons are known for.

Although Fofana would not have that problem, Kalvin Phillips fits that mold rather well despite never having the athleticism that a West Ham midfielder is known for.

His intensity is incredible, he is powerful in duels, courageous when in possession of the ball, and he also possesses elite-level experience.
A player of this caliber would normally cost twice as much as this suggested fee, but since his departure appears certain, West Ham would be extremely wise to act swiftly to bring him in during the summer.

No matter who manages the team the following season, this should undoubtedly be one to watch. Beating Man United and AC Milan to his signature would be a true statement of intent too.

In other West Ham news, negotiations for a summer transfer are still underway, and the team “adore” this 13-cap international defender.
