Timo Werner is eager to make his Tottenham loan agreement permanent, and a report has revealed one last requirement that might make or break the pre-arranged transfer: it involves Manchester United.
Upon Werner’s January six-month loan move to Tottenham from RB Leipzig, many in the game thought he was a surprise addition. The German is a good player in his own right, but Chelsea didn’t impress him when he played there before.
However, Ange Postecoglou needed a new forward to join his lineup, and Werner was a rather safe bet on a loan.
A roughly £15 million option to purchase Tottenham was also included in the loan deal.
The 28-year-old has shown the same lack of poise and finishing touch in front of goal that has plagued his Chelsea career thus far.
He has nevertheless received praise for his ability to outpace defenses with his speed, hard ethic, and determination to draw them in.
Werner has spent the majority of his career playing up front, but under Postecoglou, he has mostly played on the left wing, where he has contributed two goals and two assists in nine games so far.
Werner is anxious to sign with Tottenham On March 19, TEAMtalk exclusively revealed that Werner would give anything to become a permanent fixture at Spurs. Werner has, in a sense, approved his own relocation to north London.
Werner enjoys to play for Ange Postecoglou, who is considered to be crucial to the player’s posture.
Tottenham won’t go broke with the meager £15 million option, and we’ve been informed that the team is genuinely interested in exercising the clause.
Football Insider has released a new update that corroborated our information. They have, meanwhile, also included a possible complication regarding Tottenham’s league standing.
Transfers could be made or broken by UCL qualification.
FI condition Moving forward, Tottenham prefers to sign younger players, but they understand that a young team needs experience.
Although a deal “may depend on whether they qualify for the Champions League this season,” Werner is reportedly desired in north London.
It is implied that the additional money earned from competing in that tournament will pay Werner’s signing fee in full.
There is a fifth Champions League spot available.
The good news for Werner is that the Premier League is expected to receive an additional place in the enlarged UCL format for the following year.
Currently, Serie A and the Premier League are the two European leagues vying for the additional berths. Whichever team places fifth in the table will get the extra spot if The Premier League is awarded one.
It’s almost a given that Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal will place among the top three. Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Manchester United are anticipated to contend for fourth and fifth place.
Villa has 56 points as of right now, good for fourth place. Spurs are next on 53, with Man Utd trailing in sixth on 47. Villa has more games played than Manchester United and Tottenham combined.
Werner’s dream of joining Spurs outright might be dashed if the Red Devils are able to mount a late-season push and finish in the top five at Tottenham’s expense.
