The Pittsburgh Steelers have been busy in the wide receiver room this offseason.

They traded away former Pro Bowl receiver Diontae Johnson to Carolina.

Former Super Bowl-winning wideouts Van Jefferson and Scotty Miller were signed, as was national champion Roman Wilson out of Michigan in the third round of the NFL Draft.

The team recently announced that they have signed practice squad receiver Jacob Copeland to a one-year deal.

This is Copeland’s second stint in Pittsburgh.

Copeland has bounced around the league since going undrafted out of Maryland in 2023.

Last season, he spent time on the practice squads of the Tennessee Titans, Minnesota Vikings, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

So far this offseason, he has been with the Kansas City Chiefs and is now back in Pittsburgh.

Just 24 years of age, Copeland is still fighting for a true opportunity in the NFL.

Throughout his college career (Florida and Maryland), Copeland proved to be a quality role player.

While at Florida, his best season came in 2021 when he put up 41 catches for 642 yards and four touchdowns.

As a graduate transfer in 2022 with Maryland, he made 26 catches for 376 yards and two touchdowns.

He is not a world-beating player or superstar, but he is a player who is simply clawing and scratching for every opportunity.

In Pittsburgh, he will have a chance to fight for a roster spot this summer, and that is all he can ask for.

Perhaps his 4.4 speed and never-say-die attitude can give him an advantage while in the Steel City.
