West Ham needs depth in their squad, as evidenced by their recent struggles and probable exit from the Europa League. Arthur Melo of Juventus is one name associated with them; he is a player with promise and uncertainties.

The 2-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen made West Ham’s lack of depth in the squad clear. Only Ben Johnson and Nayef Aguerd were available for West Ham to choose from, while Leverkusen made significant substitutions.

West Ham needs to take a balanced approach to solving this problem, focusing on both experienced players and bright young talent. Arthur Melo, their most recent transfer target, poses concerns, though.

While the Brazilian midfielder is currently on loan at Fiorentina, he has always struggled with injuries. Despite this, he has shown flashes of talent. He hasn’t been able to realize his full potential because of this.

Reports state that Arsenal is vying with West Ham for Arthur’s signature. Fiorentina is not likely to exercise their purchase option, and his transfer fee is estimated to be in the neighborhood of €20 million.

Arthur Melo has promise, but he has a high risk of injury. West Ham must carefully assess whether he is a risk they can afford to take or a wise investment.
