Owls confirm retained list

Sheffield Wednesday has announced their retained list for the 2024/25 season, marking a significant period of transition for the club. The Owls have offered new contracts to seven players: Barry Bannan, Cameron Dawson, Di’Shon Bernard, Dominic Iorfa, Liam Palmer, Will Vaulks, and Josh Windass. Additionally, the club has exercised options to retain Marvin Johnson and Callum Paterson.

Conversely, several players will be departing the club. Tyreeq Bakinson, Ciaran Brennan, George Byers, Juan Delgado, Lee Gregory, and Reece James are being released following the expiration of their contracts. Meanwhile, loan players James Beadle, Momo Diaby, Ashley Fletcher, Jeff Hendrick, Kristian Pedersen, Ian Poveda, and Iké Ugbo will return to their parent clubs.

Despite these departures, there is hope within the club to secure the return of loanees James Beadle, Iké Ugbo, and Ian Poveda for the next season.

A statement from Sheffield Wednesday reads: “The Owls can confirm our retained list following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season. Barry Bannan, Cameron Dawson, Di’Shon Bernard, Dominic Iorfa, Liam Palmer, Will Vaulks and Josh Windass have been offered new contracts, while Wednesday have exercised options to retain Marvin Johnson and Callum Paterson. Loanees James Beadle, Momo Diaby, Ashley Fletcher, Jeff Hendrick, Kristian Pedersen, Ian Poveda and Iké Ugbo return to their parent clubs. The Owls would like to thank all departing players for their services and we wish them the very best for the future.”

Manager Danny Röhl is set to meet with club chairman Dejphon Chansiri to discuss the club’s future. Röhl aims to finalize the new contracts quickly to ensure a smooth start to the preseason. The announcement of the retained list allows fans to look forward to the next campaign and move past the recent season.
