SADLY David Fifita to leave Gold Coast Titans headed for…

David Fifita, one of the NRL’s best forwards, has decided to leave the Gold Coast Titans and appears to have made the decision to join the Sydney Roosters.

After leaving the Titans, the Penrith Panthers and Roosters were expected to compete for his services, but according to The Sydney Morning Herald, he has agreed to join Trent Robinson’s team.

It means Fifita wasted no time in rejecting the three-time premiers in favour of relocating to Bondi, with the deal valued at around $3.3 million over the next four years.

It is understood that both Ivan and Nathan Cleary spoke with Fifita within the last 24 hours in an attempt to finalize the club’s deal, but were unsuccessful.

Fifita, who is widely regarded as one of the game’s best second-rowers, also turned down an offer from the St George Illawarra Dragons.

The Gold Coast Titans have confirmed that Fifita chose not to exercise his player option with the club on Thursday afternoon.

On the Footy Talk – Rugby League Podcast, journalist Michael Chammas stated that the Panthers have offered him a three-year contract worth approximately $850,000 per season, whereas the Roosters have offered him around $800,000 per season over four years.

It is understood that Fifita had until 20:00 AEST on Thursday evening to accept a two-year extension with the Gold Coast Titans.

After meeting with Trent Robinson and Ivan Cleary over the past week, it is believed that the second-rower has told those close to him that he wants to win a premiership.
