Jannik Vestergaard’s excellent season for Leicester City has been rewarded with a new three-year contract.
The Danish centre-back was integral to Enzo Maresca’s system as City won the Championship, the 31-year-old marshalling from the heart of the defence and pinging passes through the lines. Only Harry Winks, Mads Hermansen, and Wout Faes played more minutes than Vestergaard during the campaign.
It was a season in which Vestergaard turned around his story and his reputation at the club. Struggling to make an impact during his first season at the club, he was then left out in the cold by Brendan Rodgers and looked destined for an exit.
