In response to Real Madrid’s €100 million demand, Liverpool may try to sign the West Ham star to replace Salah.

It still isn’t clear if Mo Salah will be a Liverpool player next season or not.

Rumours of a switch to the Saudi Pro League won’t go away, and with the Reds due a fee that’s potentially approaching £100m for a player that will be 32 this summer, it’s certainly a deal that makes sense from a club perspective.

The Egyptian King has kept a dignified silence to this point which could be interpreted in one of two ways.

Either he doesn’t want to add fuel to the fire or he’s perfectly happy at Anfield and doesn’t see the need to comment.

Liverpool could sign Rodrygo to replace Mo Salah

It can sometimes seem that words are taken out of context, so staying quiet isn’t necessarily an admission that his future could lie away from the Premier League.

According to reports in Fichajes, the Reds do appear to be hedging their bets a little, as the outlet speculate that Real Madrid’s Rodrygo could be being lined up as Salah’s replacement.

Mohamed Salah in action for Liverpool.

However, they also note that Los Blancos president, Florentino Perez’s insistence on a €100m fee is likely to scupper any deal.

That could see Liverpool go back in for West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen, mentioned by Fichajes as one of a handful of other options.

Borussia Dortmund’s Donyell Malen and Juventus ace, Federico Chiesa, have also been linked.

It’s clear that Michael Edwards, his team and whomever comes in as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement, need to work hard and fast to pin down exactly what the status quo is with regards to Salah.

Whether the player stays or goes, and there are cogent reasons for either scenario, it doesn’t help anyone if the situation is allowed to drag on.

Further, Liverpool’s transfer plans can’t really be advanced until the club understand exactly where they stand with regards to their talisman.
