Report: Detroit Lions Signing Defensive

Alim McNeill, a defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions, is probably going to be sidelined for some time. McNeill, who was enjoying his finest season to date, may be sidelined following a knock sustained in Week 13.

Tyson Alualu, a defensive tackle, is being added by the Lions to the practice squad, according NFL Network. McNeill had trouble in the second half of the team’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

After attending California for his collegiate career, he was chosen in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Alualu played for the Jaguars from 2010 to 2016, and in 2017 he signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In Pittsburgh’s season-opening 21-18 victory over the Cleveland Browns, Alualu made his debut and tallied five tackles. Alualu’s output and availability were restricted in 2021 due to an ankle fracture.

Throughout the season, Detroit has been aiming for greater defensive line output. Against the Saints, Bruce Irvin and Quinton Bohanna were promoted from the practice squad and have an opportunity to be added to the active roster. Irvin faced Derek Carr for 11 snaps and recorded a sack.

Bohanna may also find himself added to the active roster after being promoted several times, which would require the front office to find a replacement for him on the practice squad.
