Is Karl-Anthony Towns scheduled to play Thursday against the Mavs?
The Minnesota Timberwolves, who are 22-7, are leading the Western Conference. The Wolves have been one of the league’s biggest shocks thus far this season, holding a sizable lead. Though there are many uncertainties regarding the way their components will work together, Minnesota has developed a strong defense and a capable offense with two standout players in Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns. But when the squad plays the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday, they might be without one of those two stars.
Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns’ influence
Karl-Anthony Towns has likely been playing the best basketball of his career this year. The average of 22.0 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists remains the same.
Towns’ efficiency puts him squarely in the running for an All-Star position. Towns has great splits this year, putting up 51.5/41.4/90.1. Towns’ brilliance is sometimes disregarded, but he’s on track to become a member of the esteemed 50-40-90 club. Towns, a leader who makes sacrifices for fellow player Anthony Edwards, has placed a strong emphasis on the defense. His commitment to detail has made a big difference in the league’s top defense, which is improved every night.
Update on Karl-Anthony Towns’ injuries
Towns was initially listed as questionable to play against the Mavs with left knee soreness. However, Wolves coach Chris Finch told reporters before Thursday’s game that he is available to play vs. Dallas.
The seven-footer is coming off a tough night on Tuesday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. KAT scored just 16 points in 29 minutes of action as Oklahoma City outplayed Minnesota from the jump. After missing a game last week versus the Sacramento Kings, Towns just didn’t look like himself in OKC.
We’ll see how he fares in another tough Western Conference battle for the Wolves against Doncic and the Mavs.
