Wycombe Wanderers have officially announced that their Sporting Director, Pete Couhig, has stepped down from his responsibilities within the club’s boardroom.

Couhig, who became involved with the Chairboys in 2019 following the Couhig takeover, played a pivotal role in their journey, which included three Wembley finals in five seasons, including a stint in the Championship.

During his tenure, Couhig was actively engaged with fans and the local community, providing support and enthusiasm during challenging times, such as the Covid-19 pandemic.

One of his notable contributions was the establishment of Wycombe’s development squad, fostering the growth of talents like Anis Mehmeti, Al Al-Hamadi, Chri Forino, and Jasper Pattenden.

In a statement on the club’s website, Couhig’s uncle, Rob, who serves as Wanderers’ CEO, expressed gratitude for Pete’s dedication and sacrifices for the club’s success.

In an open letter addressed to Wycombe fans, Pete Couhig reflected on his time with the club, expressing appreciation for his family’s support and acknowledging the achievements and positive impact made during his tenure.

He credited the collective efforts and team spirit within the club, particularly under managers Gareth Ainsworth and Matt Bloomfield, highlighting their influence on Wycombe’s success both on and off the pitch.

Despite stepping down, Couhig emphasized his ongoing support for the club and its future endeavors, indicating a lasting connection with the Wycombe community and its football legacy.
