New boy Roland Key player backed to make a big impact for Shrewsbury Town.

Roland Idowu, the newest addition at Shrewsbury Town, according to Tunmise Sobowale, is just the man the team needs to contribute goals and assists.

Shrewsbury Town set to sign Waterford midfielder Roland Idowu | Shropshire Star

Idowu moved here a few weeks prior to Town’s trip to Adams Park to play Wycombe Wanderers.

He was the third League of Ireland player to sign with the Shropshire team since Micky Moore became director of football and Matt Taylor became manager.

Since they both played for Waterford before Sobowale joined Salop in the summer, Sobowale and Idowu have a good friendship.

Sobowale thinks Idowu can translate his scoring and assist track record from Ireland to English football when given the opportunity.

“Yes, without a doubt,” Sobowale replied. “Both I and he have faith in each other.

“The team believes in him and the gaffer believes in him so I think that he can come in and really put in some good work for us and get some goals and assists for himself.”

Idowu’s transfer won’t be completed until the window opens in the New Year, so he will have to wait until he can make his Salop debut.

“Personally I think Roland is a very unique player,” he stated.

“He plays the ball well. Along with having an incredible work ethic, he can play a variety of positions, including right and left wings as well as number ten.

“He is very flarey as well, being confident on the ball and he can get goals and assists.”
