A late move for the midfielder was also made by Serie A team Lazio, although Premier League teams including Brentford, Fulham, and West Ham were all linked to the player.

Whittaker ended up staying at Home Park, but what does the rising star’s future hold?

Morgan Whittaker’s Plymouth Argyle future

Whittaker’s head was not turned in the January window, despite being linked to elite clubs in Europe and England.

In recent remarks regarding his future, Whittaker asserts that he was always committed on Argyle, despite an Italian powerhouse in Lazio expressing interest.

“I am so delighted here that I believe my head was never going to be turned. For me, staying and continuing is a no-brainer,” Whittaker recently told PlymouthLive.

“I think what I have learned being in football is happiness is everything, and I have finally got that so I don’t want to give that up yet.”

Whittaker continued, saying, “You just have to look at it and believe that these clubs are in it for you. Use that to get going and keep playing with confidence; don’t let it get to you stressed out.

“Obviously it’s a lot because your name is in the headlines but when a team like like that (Lazio) comes in you have just got to use it as a positive and show how far you have come.”

Nothing in those remarks suggests that the player is hankering to quit, at least not at all. But summer is still months away.

In fact, Whittaker will only draw more possible suitors if he keeps performing well. If the offers for him keep coming in, Plymouth might eventually receive one they can’t turn down.

For the time being, Argyle supporters can enjoy Whittaker knowing that he is theirs, but if he keeps up his current form, there will undoubtedly be a lot of interest in the Plymouth star this summer.

When possible, Capology keeps official compensation data for the great majority of sports; in the absence of official data, they estimate earnings based on their research.

We must emphasize that the numbers below are estimates only and should not be interpreted as truth; they are not official.

Having said that, Morgan Whittaker’s current gross weekly pay is estimated by Capology to be £7,500.
