Antoine Semenyo picked Manchester City earlier this month, but Manchester United could go straight to the source and sign Bournemouth’s rumoured replacemen

Ultimately, Semenyo picked Manchester City, which likely means that United will probably go without a signing this month, one reason for the breaking point reached between Ineos and Ruben Amorim.
Semenyo would have been a luxury for United in January. But he has made his bed with the move to City, and now alternatives are being considered, with Bournemouth keen on one target.
Bournemouth’s interest in Rayan should confirm Manchester United interest
United were tipped with a move for Rayan earlier this season, with chances it could happen in January, as that is effectively the off-season for Brazilian football.
Now, according to Sky Sports’ Mark McAdam, Bournemouth are showing interest in Rayan as the possible replacement for Semenyo.
There has been no formal offer for the Brazilian 19-year-old, but talks have been opened by the Cherries with a January move hoped for after losing Semenyo.
With Rayan considered by United, the interest from Bournemouth should only add to the confidence that he should be signed.
Rayan is a forward capable of playing anywhere in the front three, and United might have to strike this month to avoid missing out.
United signing Rayan has the potential to give the next manager a world-class prospect, but the fee Vasco da Gama could charge Ineos is likely far beyond the asking price Bournemouth would get.
However, United could get the best deal possible by letting Bournemouth agree a deal for Rayan first, before then offering the same deal, which the Brazilian side cannot refuse.
United did this in the summer with Benjamin Sesko, with Newcastle agreeing a deal first, giving United the baseline before then stepping in to complete the deal.
Ineos could swoop for Rayan; however, there probably won’t be an eagerness to rush into this deal, even if Bournemouth are.
