The manager of Crystal Palace, Oliver Glasner, has declared that Jefferson Lerma will not play in the forthcoming Premier League match at Selhurst Park against West Ham. David Moyes’ team needs to win this game in order to guarantee European competition for the upcoming season.

Lerma, who came to the team on a free transfer from Bournemouth last summer, has been a mainstay, making 30 appearances across all competitions this year. He has recently played in a back three in Glasner’s setup because Marc Guehi and Chris Richards are not available.

Since Glasner replaced Roy Hodgson as head coach, the Eagles are keen to win two games in a row. Rob Holding’s return to the matchday roster gives the team a much-needed boost. Holding is prepared to rejoin the team after missing time before the new year due to ankle surgery.

The Hammers’ attack will have a chance because of Marc Guehi’s absence.

“We have one new injury concern from the Liverpool match — Jefferson Lerma, who will be out until at least the Manchester United game,” Glasner said in response to questions about the team’s circumstances. Rob Holding trained with us all week and will be a member of the squad, so I’m glad he’s back.

Glasner added that there are still questions about three other players, saying, “Chris Richards just finished his first light training session back with us today.” Joel Ward has been dealing with a groyne strain this week, and yesterday at training, Will Hughes took a knock. Tomorrow, we will finally decide whether or not to include them.

The news about Palace’s injuries may be advantageous for West Ham’s offensive. Moyes had to start Bowen, Kudus, Antonio, and Paqueta if he wanted to fully capitalise on The Eagles’ defensive shortcomings.
