It’s a bold claim that the “exceptional” Celtic youngster will be a huge sellable asset in the future.

'Exceptional' Celtic youngster told he will be huge sellable asset in future, it's a bold claim

Odin Thiago Holm, a fellow countryman and Celtic prospect, will be sold for far more money than the club paid for him in the summer, according to Patrick Berg.

Even though Holm is only 20 years old, Brendan Rodgers paid £2.6 million to get him from Valerenga. Although there were high expectations for the attacking midfielder when he arrived at Celtic Park, he hasn’t really shown off his talent yet.

Amidst an injury problem, the Norwegian played in three of Celtic’s opening four Scottish Premiership matches this year. Until the end of November, when he made many stand-in appearances, he was hardly seen again.

But as Holm is still unsure of himself, Rodgers has chosen not to include him in his previous six league matchday lineups.

It was a setback as well because he got sent off against Feyenoord in the Champions League. Berg believes that Celtic has a bright future now that Holm is a member of the team.

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder for Bodo Glimt has closely monitored Holm’s development and thinks he will eventually succeed with the Hoops before being traded for a sizable sum of money.

When addressing Odin Thiago Holm, Patrick Berg told the Daily Record, “I would say Odin is a good investment and he’ll be worth a lot of money in the future.”

That’s the thing with these talented Norwegians. When you pick them up early, they are not that pricey. Let’s just imagine that Odin has a couple of successful seasons with Celtic; I have no doubt that they will be able to recoup a significant portion of his salary.

It reminds me of Stefan, my close friend (Johansen). Similar circumstances existed: he was acquired by Celtic for a reasonable price, performed well for the team, and was then sold to Fulham, where he excelled. Odin could definitely do the same. However, given that Celtic is a fantastic club, I’m sure it would be beneficial if he decided to stay for a long period.

When he was younger, I frequently played against him in Norway. Early on, it was evident that he was a remarkable talent. He made his debut quite early on. Despite having grown up in Trondheim, home of one of Norway’s biggest clubs, Rosenborg, he made the decision to relocate to a different club in order to further his career.

He performed admirably there, and it was just a matter of time until a major team signed him. I was thrilled to see him transfer to Celtic because they are a huge team.

Given how much work Holm has on his plate at Celtic right now, Berg’s assertion about how much money Celtic may bring in for him in the future seems audacious.

However, given the money paid on the 20-year-old, you would expect Rodgers will help Holm make the most of his time.

Celtic supporters only hope that the obvious midfield talent there may be released sooner rather than later. Berg is right.
