Greg Kiltie acknowledges that off-form St. Mirren needs to figure out fast how to keep their winning Premiership campaign from falling apart.
After winning their first seven decisive Premiership games, the Buddies established themselves in third place early in the season.
Stephen Robinson’s team, however, has dropped to fifth place, behind Kilmarnock and Hearts, after winning only two of their previous ten games and losing four of their previous six.
Kiltie is aware of the necessity to prevent falling farther down the league standings because Hibernian, Dundee, and Aberdeen are all hovering slightly behind them with games left to play.
Kiltie, a winger, stated, “We need to avoid taking a big step back.” “It’s crucial to keep gaining points along the way if you’re not going to be winning a lot of games like we did at the beginning of the season.”
Kilmarnock overtook Saints on the weekend, but a victory in Paisley on Wednesday night would put them back above Derek McInnes’ team and into fourth place.
“It’s critical that we resume our winning ways,” ex-Killie player Kiltie stated. We really need it since our home form has been crucial both this season and last.
“We need to win the Kilmarnock game and then see what happens because we have three tough games coming up.”
Following the Killie game, St Mirren will play two tough games—one at home against Celtic and the other away against Aberdeen. Kiltie brushed off the idea that his team needs the winter break to get back on track.
He declared, “We still want to perform well before the break.” “You never know, we might decide that the winter break is not coming at a good moment for us after a few successful tests. In this league, everything go in circles.
