West Ham supporters will find Karen Brady’s shocking assertion painful to read.
Overall, West Ham’s hiring over the last two seasons has been excellent, notwithstanding a few hiccups. Edson Alvarez, Mohammed Kudus, and Lucas Paqueta have all been incredible additions to the team.
Cole Palmer is one player, though, about whom they will be utterly devastated if they never sign. The midfield player ultimately agreed to a £42.5 million contract with Chelsea, but not before he was strongly linked to a transfer to the London Stadium.
He currently shares first place in the Premier League goalscoring standings with 20 goals, and he has provided nine assists. Chelsea has been awful this season, so it’s even more amazing that he’s producing those kinds of numbers.
Though it’s obvious that he would have made a fantastic addition to any team, the fact that West Ham came so close to acquiring him will shock supporters. Karen Brady told The Sun, “Cole is as cool a dude in front of goal as Jimmy Greaves himself, from all the newsreels I’ve seen.”
Which is presumably the reason David Moyes made a valiant effort to sign him. Even so, we had an agreement with City before Chelsea made a move.
Having signed him, our Irons might have had a chance to play in Europe one more season. Regretfully, Chelsea is benefiting from West Ham’s failure to close the deal sooner, which may be the reason they surpass their London rivals in the end.
